Shu Lea Cheang

Brandon was an interesting experience.it is an Interactive Media Art Installation in which the viewer may interact with an images pre-programmed to react a certain way when the cursor is moved acrossed the screen. The images are startling and seem to be making clear a statement about people being different and the violence perpetrated upon them because of their differences it is about the prosthetic devices that we use to change and extend our bodies.these images are manipulated through the use of a computer and can be made to change and flip the images rapidly or slowly according to the movement of the mouse by the viewer. The images are programmed to overlap and move in a preset manner according to where the cursor moves on the screen once the screen is activated. Sexual differences, tatoos, violence, and anatomical parts with words all flashing and flicking as you move your cursor. When the cursor is moved across the screen the veiwer experiences an explosion of shocking in your face images. Humans often adapt their bodies in homemade ways and using modern technology when they don't feel at home in the bodies that they where born with. A man trapped in a womans body and a woman walking around with an unwanted appendage. Viewing this art and interacting with it opened alot of questions and made me remember some of my friends who are homosexuals, and the terrible things that they have to experience in society. Very interesting work that brings forth many images, and many issues.
